In an organizational context, â€Å"a group is defined as two or more employees who interact with each other in such a manner that the behavior and/or performance of a member is influenced by the behavior and/or performance of other members† (Gibson et al. 230). Groups are a fundamental part of an organization and help to achieve organizational success. There are many factors regarding the behavior of group members, leadership styles, the use of power and politics, and types of conflict that have a large impact on organizational success. There are two different types of groups. There are formal groups, which are â€Å"created by managerial decision to accomplish stated goals of the organization† and there are informal groups, which â€Å"arise from individual efforts and develop around common interests and friendships rather than deliberate design† (Gibson et al. 231). The informal groups are not formally structured and are created to meet social needs. Within th e two groups are sub-classes. Command groups and task groups are types of formal groups that are formed in organizations. The members of a command group are â€Å"subordinates who report directly to a given supervisor† (Gibson et al. 231) An example of a command group is a department manager and the employees that work in that department. Rap Music Essay Example For Students

Rap Music Essay Often times when people hear about Hip Hop/Rap music, they fill paint a picturein their heads of black men cussing, guns, marijuana, lots of gold, and girlslooking like prostitutes. Parents and teachers put an image in their kids headthat Rap music is bad, and they don`t want their kids to be influenced bysomething that is negative. With the way Rap music is advertised in the US, Iwould have to agree with that looking at it from an average parents point ofview. But what people don`t know is that Hip Hop isn`t just a type of music, it`sa culture. It`s a culture full of original elements, and it`s also a place wherepeople can show others what they five got and who they are. Within this originalsociety called Hip Hop, there are basically four main elements of MC, Break,Tag, and DJ. And each is represented by millions of people all over the globe. The definition of rap music states that it is a style of popular music that is developed at the end of the 1970s by disc jockeys and which is characterized by the backgrounds of insistent beat patterns and the melodic texture with rapid slangy texts glibly intoned. Rap often goes together with hip-hop. However, hip-hop is not only music but a culture. It is full of originality and provides an excellent platform for young people to express their individuality and demonstrate what they have. The evolution of rap music is tightly connected with an American scene. The sources of rap were hidden many years ago when African-Americans were telling stories under the accompaniment of only rhythmical beaten. The great popularity rap received in the 1970s, and the first hit was released by the Sugarhill Gang. After that, the audience that favored rap had been rapidly increasing. It was not popular only among the African Americans, and in the 1980s the white people bands appeared such as Beastie Boys. At the end of the century, the character of rap music rather developed and changed. Simple lyrics were replaced by complex ones, and the new style was considerably louder. The most famous artists from this period are Snoop Dogg, Tupac, Eminem. Rap was able to stand in the time and keep its popularity until our days. However, modern rap is rather different from what it was at the beginning of its existing. Modern hip hop is softer and often includes the melody. Artists pay now great attention to their song to be sung, not only told as a story. They harmonize and sing their tracks. Lots of people argue about the negative influence of rap music on young people consciousness. There are various arguments from both sides as some people want to prove the positive effects of such kind of music and others state its negative effects. Among positive aspects that rap music has, entertainment could be named. Rap plays the role of combining people together and giving them something similar to share. Unfortunately, there is more evidence of the bad influence of rap. It is connected with the themes that are usually discussed in the lyrics. Rap music makes the focus on sex, violence, and drugs using an awful cruel and offensive language. In most rap compositions, sex is defined as something dirty and is described too pointedly. It is one of the greatest dangers as young children and teenagers are listening to rap. Their perception of the world is not strictly formed yet, and it is highly risky to let them be involved in rap music. The picture that they have received from the lyrics will stand in front of their eyes and would be hard to change or demolish. All the decisions are made by rap artists under the influence of drugs. There is a differentiating between the logical decisions and those made while taking drugs. Most rappers that touch the theme of drugs tell how perfectly they feel while taking them. Rap singers prove that it is okay to take them and there is nothing forbidden in it. .ud098272bd0d012ad79ffb5396e293c4e , .ud098272bd0d012ad79ffb5396e293c4e .postImageUrl , .ud098272bd0d012ad79ffb5396e293c4e .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .ud098272bd0d012ad79ffb5396e293c4e , .ud098272bd0d012ad79ffb5396e293c4e:hover , .ud098272bd0d012ad79ffb5396e293c4e:visited , .ud098272bd0d012ad79ffb5396e293c4e:active { border:0!important; } .ud098272bd0d012ad79ffb5396e293c4e .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .ud098272bd0d012ad79ffb5396e293c4e { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .ud098272bd0d012ad79ffb5396e293c4e:active , .ud098272bd0d012ad79ffb5396e293c4e:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .ud098272bd0d012ad79ffb5396e293c4e .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .ud098272bd0d012ad79ffb5396e293c4e .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .ud098272bd0d012ad79ffb5396e293c4e .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .ud098272bd0d012ad79ffb5396e293c4e .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .ud098272bd0d012ad79ffb5396e293c4e:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .ud098272bd0d012ad79ffb5396e293c4e .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .ud098272bd0d012ad79ffb5396e293c4e .ud098272bd0d012ad79ffb5396e293c4e-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .ud098272bd0d012ad79ffb5396e293c4e:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: Compare essay - opera and musicalRap songs have the great power to influence bad decision people make. They are a hidden motivator of bad choices. Rap music has a bad impact on every person that listens to it especially on the young generation. Not surprisingly that most parents and teachers are struggling to protect their kids from this influence trying to develop their positive world’s outlook. Parents should be extremely attentive to their children’s problem, or else they can easily find the solutions in the lyrics. There is no extreme necessity to forbidden rap at all; we should pay attention to those issues that create risk and find the solutions on thes e aspects. Conclusion Rap is a kind of music that has become extremely popular in our time, especially among youth and teenagers. It gives them something that helps them to realize themselves and feel connected together. However, rap contains a huge danger at the same time, discussing things like violence, drugs, and sex and describing them in the untruthful dirty light. Such words in the lyrics may have an extremely harmful influence on youth conscious.

Is the book of genesis an epic

In consideration of the story of Abraham, the book of Genesis largely meets the threshold for classification as an epic. Abraham was one of the three sons of Terah, who God called when he was seventy five years old, to leave his fathers family behind in order to start a journey of faith that spanned one hundred years, and covered much distance. We see the unfolding of divine occurences in this journey all the way to his death at the age of one hundred and seventy five.Advertising We will write a custom essay sample on Is the book of genesis an epic? specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More In Abraham’s society, he stood for justice, selflessness and the sharing of opportunities. Abraham came out as a defender of the weak and as one not to fight over opportunities. When Lot, decided to go with Abraham, he did not stop him. Abraham was not seen to seek his own advantage by following up on God’s promise all alone. Later on when there was strife between Abraham’s and Lot’s herdsmen Abraham, said, â€Å"lets not have any quarelling between you and me, or between your herdsmen and mine, for we are brothers† (Zondervan NIV Study Bible, Gen. 13.8). Abraham went on to propose that they separate, giving Lot the upper hand in deciding on which areas to take. Lot chose the lush regions towards Sodom. Later, when the four kings of Shinar, Ellasar, Elam and Goiim capture Lot, together with the inhabitants of Sodom and Gommorrah, Abraham got his men together and recued all the captives including his nephew Lot. He went on to restitute to the captured kings all the loot plundered from them. These instances show that Abraham fought for justice and the opressed and was open to sharing opportunities. God favoured Abraham. God picked on Abrahaham out of the entire human race to bless him. Before Abraham had anything of merit, God called him and promised to bless him. God said to Abraham, â€Å"Leave your country, your people and your father’s household and go to the land I will show you† (Gen 12.1). While Abraham’s future relationship with God depended on his obedience to this command, he was the only one that God gave the opportunity. Before he had obeyed the command, God promised in Gen 12.2 to bless him, to make his name great, to bless those who bless him and to curse those that curse him. After Abraham left, God went ahead to make a covenant with Abraham and promised him a son. Because of Gods favor, Abraham became a very wealthy man. This favor was so evident that Abimelech sought to get into covenant with Abraham so that Abraham, would â€Å"not deal falsely† (Gen 21.23) with him or his descendants. Abraham was also God’s confidant.Advertising Looking for essay on religion theology? Let's see if we can help you! Get your first paper with 15% OFF Learn More Because of Gods preferential treatment of Abraham, he learnt of the impending destruction of Sodom and Gommorrah, and had opportunity to plead with God on behalf of the two cities. God dealt with Abraham as a friend, and not necessarily as diety to human. In so doing, by God favoured Abraham, as He did no other human being at the time. The distances Abraham travelled were long and winding. The travelling started when Abraham’s father, Terah took his sons and set out from, â€Å"Ur of the Chaldeans to go to caanan† (Gen 11.31). They settled midway at Haran. It was at Haran that God called Abraham to go to the land of the promise. Abraham travelled all the way to Shechem. From there he went past Bethel and on towards Negev. Later on, because of a famine, he went to live in Egypt for a while before returning to Negev after an interruption of his stay in Egypt. From Negev, he went all the way back to Bethel where he parted with Lot and moved to Hebron. The distances Abraham covered spanned vast regions, and moving with herds and servants, it was not an easy thing to do. Each of these places was associated with a major event in Abraham’s life. Indeed Abrahams incessant travel routine qualifies Genesis for the classification as an epic. Finally, it is evident from Genesis that in addition to favouring Abraham, God also took his side in several instances. When Abraham went to pursue Lots captors, he had three hundred and eighteen men to his side. With this band of men, he conquered four kings! While nothing extraordinary is on record about how he did it, it is incredible that a man with that few men can defeat the armies of four kings. God must have intervened somehow. In another instance, God openly took Abraham’s side when Abraham went to Gerar and said Sarah was his sister. King Abimelech of Gerar took her in for a wife innocently. God warned him to return Sarah to Abraham, but gave no rebuke to Abraham. In fact, Abraham went to pray for Abimelech to lift off a curse that subsequently befell him and hi s wives, â€Å"so that they could have children again† (Gen 20.17). The classification of Genesis as an epic is not without problems. In Abraham’s time, there seem to be other persons that God was also showing favour.Advertising We will write a custom essay sample on Is the book of genesis an epic? specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More One of them was Melchizedek who Abraham met after he had defeated the four kings. Abraham gave him a tenth of all he had because he was a priest of the most high. In addition, while Abraham travelled great distances, his nephew Lot was with him most of the time, which shows that it may have been a common thing for people to travel great distances in that day and time in search of resources. Finally, while God seems to go out of his way to defend and show favour to Abraham, he obeys Him. This is arguably the reason God worked with Abraham and so he may easily have worked with anyone else wh o would have been able to walk in obedience as Abraham did. To a fair extent, Genesis is classifiable as an epic, but exceptions are necessary for the actions of the charaters involved. We therefore conclude that Genesis is an epic, but not on a strict criteria. Works Cited Zondervan NIV Study Bible. Fully rev. ed. Kenneth L. Barker, Gen. ed. Grand Rapids, MI: Zondervan, 2002.
